East Dallas 1200 History
East Dallas Lodge 1200, A.F. & A.M., was chartered on December 8, 1922 at the original Lakewood location off La Vista & Gaston. Officers of the lodge were installed and the lodge duly constituted on January 5, 1923 and the first stated meeting was held on January 9, 1923 with John H. Cullom as our first Worshipful Master. In 1947 the lodge moved to Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral.
Often known as the “Policeman’s Lodge,” because of the many prominent law enforcement officers who were members of the lodge, the name carries forward into the 21st century to include many officers from the various law enforcement agencies. Today’s East Dallas Lodge 1200 also includes members who come from all walks of life and disciplines, young and the….not so young.
